NAFU North American SuperLiga

Short History

The SuperLiga was an official NAFU football competition between teams from the Liga MX of Mexico and Major League Soccer of the United States and Canada. The competition was sanctioned by CONCACAF and served as the sub-regional championship for the North American section of CONCACAF. SuperLiga had an invitational format for its 2007 debut, for later editions both leagues have their own criteria for qualifying for competition. The format consisted of a group stage, with four teams from both leagues, followed by playoffs or knockout rounds. The tournament was discontinued after the 2010 edition.
